Calva? A drink so powerful it is given to cows during labour?

Wouldn't surprise me.

Why is it that I can get onto every other site on the web except CA??

I've tried deleting all cookies and temp files, but still no luck.

Hi Schizo

Using that, I can get a lot of the forum page displayed, but there is a lot of little red crosses. I can get to the same point via http://www.club-arnage.com/yabbse/index.php.

As soon as I try to do anything - look at a post, log in, whatever, I get 'Page Cannot be Displayed'.

I can also get onto the main CA page, again with bits missing, and with the same result when I try to do something.

I have no trouble getting on to any other web site that I have tried. I had made no changes to my PC, other than hit 'refresh' first thing this morning, when I got the same error message. I have since deleted all cookies and temp files, but with no change. I have emailed someone who is also on btinternet.com to see if he is having similar problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Del, I had all this trouble over the past couple of weeks. Lennart seemed to think everything was okay at the server end.

I reckon the problem was with my ADSL ISP (BT) messing about with the DNS lookup setting - the 'address' they have to route you to CA.
I could access via another dial-up ISP without any problems.

I now have a different ADSL ISP and everything seems to be fine and dandy.

Looks like a DNS (The thing that resolve domain names e.g. clubarnage.com to their corresponding ip adress e.g. 130.228.2.207) problem to me, a issue with you internet provider, here's a little workaround that should help you out...

    go to Start > run
Type notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts end press OK
you see the line 127.0.0.1 localhost in there
just below that, insert the following line:
    130.228.2.207 [TAB] clubarnage.com
save the file and try to log on at the forums again

The lowest part of the hosts file should now look like this:
Code:
127.0.0.1       localhost
130.228.2.207   clubarnage.com

This trick will bypass the crappy ISP DNS server for the clubarnage.com domain

Tried all that, Schizo, and it made no difference. Eventually found the correct file (I hope) under WINNT (not WINDOWS). Copy of lower part of that file now reads:

# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
130.228.2.207 clubarnage.com

I closed down IE and restarted it, but no change.

Wishy has just emailed me back - he is also on btinternet.com, and he cannot get on either, so it looks like a problem with BT.

Thanks for the help anyway.
